How to configure U2F in Joomla

Joomla is one of the most popular and powerful CMS’es out there. And if our web application firewall stats are to be believed, a lot of people would *love* to get access to your Joomla website to wreck havoc in your Joomla back-end.

A while ago, some two-factor authentication options were added to the Joomla Core. U2F wasn’t one of them. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t add U2F to your Joomla website. The guys behind AkeebaBackup have made sure you can do just that – and a lot more – by installing the Akeeba LoginGuard component. Akeeba LoginGuard goes beyond what the core offered, and offers new authentication options and the possibility to manage the 2FA options for other users.

Needless to say, I got a bit distracted when making the video tutorial on how to configure U2F in Joomla. But in less than ten minutes, I explain both how to configure U2F in Joomla and explain why Akeeba LoginGuard is yet another AkeebaBackup component that everyone with a Joomla website should install.

Enjoy the video, and feel free to comment on this blog, on Youtube, on social media or by writing angry letters. (Please don’t do the angry letter thing).
